Uni-Norths Owls Juniors have hosted the Canberra Junior 7s tournament for over 15 years. The tournament has become the traditional way to wrap up the season for many clubs.
We're excited that Classic Sportswear has joined us as our major sponsor.
2017 saw 900 kids from u8s to u14s enjoying a great day for rugby at Southwell Park, Lyneham. More than half our teams were from outside the ACT. The feedback from all participants was extremely positive:
A BIG THANK YOU to Owls Rugby for hosting the Canberra 7s. The Maroubra u12s had a fantastic time – won a few , lost a few and rugby was the winner!!! Well done on a great event – really well organised. We will definitely be recommending the Canberra 7s to our other teams.
Many thanks for organising such a well-run event. Everyone from our club had a wonderful time, and as you said – it’s a great way to finish off the season with a fun, social weekend away.
We have a couple of key changes planned this year which we hope will help make the event better than ever:
- we are introducing an under 15s division
- registration will be fully online with payment required by credit card at the time of registration
We're also happy to say we will be at Southwell Park again this year - feedback on the new venue was very positive. One piece of constructive criticism we heard loud and clear after last year was the need to keep the event to schedule, particularly for teams that have to travel home interstate. We will be working hard to address that this year with plans to keep more centralised control of timing and also reduced maximum number of teams per division. We'll also be focusing on lining up few more refs to ensure our refs aren't run off their feet.

Time: 0830 - 1630 (Grand Finals end approx 1630)
Registration Fee: $220 / team
Mixed: u8, u9, u10, u11, u12
Boys: u13, u14, u15
We expect to open registration on Monday 18th June and we will send out further details at least a week or so before this date. Numbers per division are strictly limited (12 teams for all divisions). Registrations are on a first in, best dressed basis.

Finding enough referees for the day is always one of our biggest challenges so this year we're starting early. We will also be looking at an arrangement to offset travel costs for interstate refs.
